The Great Resignation: Retaining Talent and Re-Imagining Workplaces

The Great Resignation is an idea that predicts a large number of people will continue to leave their jobs after the COVID pandemic "ends" and life returns to "normal." Managers are now navigating the ripple effects from the pandemic, as employees re-evaluate their careers and leave their jobs in record numbers.  According to the Department of Labor, 4.5 million people quit their jobs by November 2021.  Life and work changes from the pandemic have made many question what really matters in life, and right now, decide what’s next.

With workplace stress and burnout on the rise, leaders across the globe are seeing plummeting levels of employee engagement, happiness, productivity, and most of all retention. Companies are scrambling to create environments that will entice employees to stay.

How can we see this "moment" as a chance to pause and reframe our thinking? Now is the time to evolve our actions and behaviors to address crucial areas affecting employee health, happiness and retention, as well as create a richer roadmap for manager-employee relationships that supports everyone to thrive. What got us here, won’t take us there and in a world of shifting demands, disruptions and constant change the best solution is for companies to destroy old habits and rebuild new practices that support employees to stay, grow and thrive.

Join the Quorum Workplace Alliance Council for an engaging and highly interactive panel and small group discussion about this next chapter in our work lives.
