ABOUT WISE ACRE EATERY AND TANGLETOWN GARDENS:
Principles Scott Endres, and Dean Engelmann both started as farm boys, growing up on their families’ farms and learning a love and appreciation of plants, animals, and growing things while preserving the land for future generations. What started as an idea when they were just out of horticulture school at the U of M has grown into a business that now consists of a Restaurant, Garden Center and Farm.
Wise Acre Eatery is their farm to table restaurant located in the South Minneapolis neighborhood of Tangletown. At Wise Acre Eatery they make their food as it was made long ago - when everyone ate organic, sustainable, free range, locally grown food that wasn’t fussy or high-end. It was just good food from scratch, every day. Wise Acre strives to bring guests back to this old standard of cooking using the season’s best from their farm. Even in the winter months, between 80 – 95% of the food served at Wise Acre Eatery comes from their farm just 45 miles West in Plato, MN. Wise Acre Eatery is truly the shortest distance between the earth, the hand and the mouth.
Scott and Dean have been sharing their passion for beauty through unique plants, garden art and creative design for over 16 years at their Garden Center across the street from Wise Acre. They get energized by the plethora of options the plant kingdom provides and pride themselves in their revolutionary thinking way out of the mainstream of retail shops, nurseries, landscape design firms, farms, and garden centers. Over the years we have been called “style makers”, “dynamic designers”, “trendsetters”,” remarkable retail”, “Twin Cities inspiration”, a “don’t miss store” and always the “best garden center”, but among their favorite accolades are things like “shop with staying power” and “revolutionary garden center”.
To date, Tangletown Gardens and Wise Acre Eatery have funded 15 scholarships to the University of Minnesota Department of Horticultural Science. Provided enough fresh, responsibly-grown produce to feed 10,595 families and donated 15,322 pounds of produce to area food shelves last year alone. Their in-kind research donations to the University of Minnesota Department of Horticultural Science exceed $35,000 and the hours spent on independent farm research to pioneer a more sustainable tomorrow for our community are endless.

NEW! HERE'S AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN FROM THE BEST!
During the afternoon session, Best Buy will provide insight in to how to present in a professional manner to enhance your sales ability when meeting with potential clients. In addition, Best Buy will allow a small number of interested, certified diverse suppliers to “practice” their sales presentations in a front of members of the Best Buy Corporate Procurement team.
BIZ PITCH FEEDBACK CHANCE!
In an effort to further LGBTQ supplier diversity across the Twin Cities, Best Buy and Quorum are partnering to offer a Sales Presentation Feedback Panel opportunity. This event will allow a small number of interested, certified diverse suppliers to “practice” their sales presentations in a front of members of the Best Buy Corporate Procurement team.
By providing a neutral and nurturing environment, Best Buy hopes to offer support to LGBTQ suppliers by providing thoughtful feedback on selected supplier’s presentation content, messaging, value proposition, materials, style, etc. The overall goal of this program is to help diverse supplier participants distinguish themselves in future corporate sales opportunities and enable them to generate new growth supporting businesses. And, the goal of this opportunity is to enable selected diverse suppliers to gain specific and actionable feedback to incorporate learnings into their organization’s sales efforts.
Please understand that this is not a sales opportunity to Best Buy.
Note: These sessions will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Due to the limited availability, interested diverse suppliers are encouraged to respond promptly. Should there be high demand for the program, Best Buy may opt to offer more session at a future date.
If you are interested in participating in this program, please email Rebecca Waggoner at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Noon, July 6th and indicate your interest in participation. Each supplier will receive email confirmation of their participation in the program, and confirmed presentation slot, no later than 5:00 p.m. July 9th.
To prepare for the event, please review the following:
The basic supplier agenda for each presentation is:
Best Buy Panel feedback will be shared directly with each supplier via email no later than the week of July 20th, 2018.
It is strongly suggested that participants treat this presentation opportunity exactly like a normal sales opportunity. This will allow the Best Buy panel to provide the most applicable and appropriate feedback.
Best Buy is once again excited to partner with the Quorum on this innovative approach to supporting supplier diversity and the LGBTQ community.
Quorum is a Minnesota 501(c)6 non-profit organization.
